Family Empowerment

In rural Cambodia, many women and girls grow up without access to basic health education. Topics like hygiene, pregnancy, fertility, domestic violence, and human trafficking are rarely discussed. Without this knowledge, families remain vulnerable — physically, emotionally, and economically.

Asian Outreach Cambodia’s Family Empowerment Project is changing that.

Your Support Makes
this Possible...

Your support helps women gain access to information many have never received before. Through practical education and mentoring, women learn about health, fertility, pregnancy, hygiene, domestic violence, and human trafficking prevention.

Our team also teaches intermediate aged students about puberty, human rights and staying safe online.

As women and girls pass their newly gained knowledge on to their children, siblings, and future families, your support creates change that lasts over generations.

Family Empowerment Groups

In the remote villages of Stung Treng province, our team forms Family Empowerment Groups - women who meet regularly together for practical, educational sessions.
These sessions cover topics like:
  • Hygiene and women's health
  • Fertility and pregnancy
  • Domestic violence awareness
  • Human trafficking prevention
For many women, it's the first time they've really understood their monthly cycle. They're also gifted kits containing reusable sanitary products and knickers - items which make periods more manageable and economical.
When learning about human trafficking, one group recognised that a young woman from their village who had left to marry a man in China was likely the victim of trafficking. That moment of awareness sparked a commitment to protect others in their community.
As women learn together, they build supportive relationships and become advocates for change within their families and villages.

Freedom and Dignity in a Simple Kit

Women who attend our group sessions receive kits containing reusable sanitary pads and knickers — a luxury item in many rural homes. These simple items give women freedom and confidence during their periods.

We also provide the kits to intermediate-aged girls through the Elevate project. Many teenage girls miss a week of school every month simply because they lack sanitary products. Period products are expensive, bathrooms are limited, and cultural shame often keeps girls silent.

Elevate equips girls (and boys) with essential knowledge about puberty, helping them navigate adolescence with dignity and confidence. These kits are enabling teenage girls to stay in school and thrive.

Real Lives. Real Impact

See the impact of a simple kit containing reusable sanitary products.

No girl should have to miss school or feel restricted by shame simply because of her period. Yet for many girls in rural Cambodia, that's a monthly reality.

Just $30 can provide a young woman with a reusable sanitary kit, giving her the freedom, dignity, and confidence to stay in school and thrive.

Sadly, Than Chan Theoun joined our Women's Empowerment Group too late. Before finding support through Asian Outreach Cambodia, she endured the horrific experience of being trafficked to another country in Asia. What she believed was an opportunity for steady work and a better future quickly became a nightmare. Her documents were confiscated, and she was forced to work long hours doing work she had never agreed to. She was held captive with other Cambodian women under constant camera surveillance, deprived of proper food, and subjected to harsh treatment and abuse. After a courageous escape, Than Chan Theoun sought help from the Cambodian embassy and eventually made her way home. Today, she attends one of our Women's Empowerment Groups and is passionate about helping others recognise the warning signs of human trafficking. Although sharing her experience is still painful, she wants other women to learn from her story and avoid being deceived by false promises. Stories like Than Chan Theoun's remind us why education matters. By equipping women with practical knowledge about health, safety, and trafficking risks, the Family Empowerment Project is helping protect vulnerable families and empower communities across rural Cambodia.

Your Gift = Knowledge + Power + Freedom

The Family Empowerment Project is helping rural Cambodian women and girls gain confidence, dignity, and hope.

As women and girls pass their newly gained knowledge on to their daughters, sisters, and future families, your support creates generational change that lasts long after the training ends.

And as our faith-filled team teaches this life-changing information, they build trusting relationships that create natural opportunities to share their testimony and the hope of Jesus along the way.

Will you join us in empowering women and girls to thrive in rural Cambodia?

With a gift of as little as $30, you can help sustain this life-changing ministry.
