Across rural Cambodia, entire villages have never heard the name of Jesus. Many families live in fear of spirits, bound by superstition and costly rituals that offer no lasting peace. Our church‑planting team at Asian Outreach Cambodia (AOC) is committed to reaching these unreached communities - no matter how far, how remote, or how difficult the journey.
They travel long distances on rough roads, often by motorbike, crossing rivers, navigating mud, and leaving behind the comforts of home. And they do it joyfully because they know the message they carry brings freedom, hope, and life.

Outreach with Impact
When our team visits rural villages, they often stay for several days. During the day, they offer practical services like haircuts and hygiene workshops - simple acts of kindness that open doors and build trust. At night, they share testimonies, pray with families, and show The Jesus Film. For many villagers, this is the very first time they’ve heard the gospel.
In places where individuals or families have already accepted Christ, the team returns regularly to disciple them. They provide Bibles and audio Bibles, encourage new believers, and identify emerging leaders who can evangelise and make more disciples.
Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Our team is committed to regularly visiting new believers, teaching and discipling them in the ways of Jesus. Between visits, however, audio Bibles provide an invaluable source of encouragement and spiritual growth. These solar-powered devices allow even those who cannot read to hear God's Word in their own language.

“ Listening to it benefits my entire family. This device is invaluable, as I can also listen to it while working on the farm."

“Despite my inability to read, I have a deep love for HEARING the Word of God.”
How a Village Churches Begins
In many rural villages, a new church begins very simply — just a few people sitting on the floor of someone’s home, opening the Bible together for the first time. With steady support and faithful leadership, these small gatherings grow.
Over time, and often with help from supporters like you, a humble church building replaces the living‑room floor and becomes a central place of worship, learning, and transformation for the community.

Finding freedom in Christ

From spirit fear to church leadership
Once trapped in fear and spirit‑worship, Choun Phon now leads a group of 30 believers in his tribal village.
For years, his family sacrificed chickens, pigs, and even buffaloes to forest and mountain spirits, hoping for protection and healing. The rituals drained them financially and emotionally, yet peace never came.
Everything changed in 2013 when missionaries shared the message of Jesus with him. “I knew nothing about Jesus,” he says, “but the teachings revealed Him as the Saviour who could free me from the oppression of evil spirits. After hearing this message, I chose to believe in Him. God transformed my life and called me to serve as a pastor, evangelist, and Khmer literacy teacher.”
Today, Choun Phon is discipling others, sharing the freedom he found in Christ.

A woman set free - a village transformed
In northern Cambodia, Khun Thongkham suffered torment from evil spirits for nearly a year.
Her family was terrified and out of answers. But one night, in desperation, she cried out to Jesus - and everything changed.
She describes nights filled with screaming, trembling, and visions of graves and dark forests. She wandered to burial grounds, overwhelmed by despair. But when she prayed, “Jesus, please help me,” peace flooded her heart. That night, she slept soundly for the first time in months.
As she slowly regained her health, she joined the village church. Her transformation was so powerful that seven families in her village have now come to faith through her testimony.
